NZ LCP documents

NZ LCP generic Version 12.

Based on the robust UK process, including significant modification based on feedback, the National LCP Office Governance Group has accepted that NZ need to adopt Version 12. Not to do so is considered detrimental in our long term interest considering the global quality tool which LCP is. The National LCP Office has developed a "NZ LCP generic version 12" document which received full compliance from the LCP Central Team (UK) on 25th March 2010.

Care of the dying patient and their family/whânau can be supported effectively by either version 11 or version 12 of the LCP. As in all other LCP collaborating countries, the National LCP Office anticipates that NZ will have a 'dual platform' i.e. both versions of the LCP in use in the foreseeable future, but does urge registered organisations/sites to begin planning to update their LCP document to version 12.

NZ LCP Version 11 Documents

The four core NZ LCP documents adapted from the "Version 11 UK LCP" documents were ratified by the LCP Central Team (UK) for use in NZ. When adapting the LCP locally, the "goals of care" in the LCP must remain the same to facilitate audit and benchmarking. The National LCP Office NZ encourages registered LCP sites/organizations to utilize the NZ LCP Version 11 - Goal Definition Data Dictionary to check that the addition of local prompts under the goals of care have not changed the meaning of the goal. All adapted LCP documents should be forwarded to the National LCP Office NZ for review to ensure compliance before being used in practice.

The NZ LCP Version 11 documents have been reviewed and updated in line with the UK. The new document - "NZ LCP generic version 12" is now available.

The National LCP Office NZ will review the availability of other LCP documents for specialty areas such as ICU, paediatric, renal and cardiac, and the 'Rapid Discharge LCP' in consultation and collaboration with the LCP Central Team (UK) in 2010.
