Register to use the Liverpool Care Pathway for the Dying Patient (LCP) in NZ

Why register?

Registration is compulsory if you are intending to use the LCP in NZ. This document is copyrighted to the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital NHS Trust (RLBUHT) and Marie Curie Cancer Care (MCCC) as it was designed between the University Hospital and the Marie Curie Hospice Liverpool.  The National LCP Office NZ holds the license from the LCP Central Team at MCPCIL for LCP in NZ.

A document cannot be called the LCP in NZ unless it has been endorsed by the National LCP Office NZ.

If you do not want to use the LCP but you do want to reference the work of the LCP Central Team at MCPCIL then contact the LCP Central Team at MCPCIL directly via their website www.mcpcil.org.uk and they will send you a document to guide this process.

On receipt of the LCP NZ generic version 12 you can begin adapting the document to your organization/care setting by adding your logo and adapting the prompts under the ‘goals of care’ to reflect your local policies/procedures/guidelines. To maintain the integrity of the LCP, the core ‘goals of care’ in bold must remain the same as the national document so that future benchmarking is possible.  Once you have adapted the LCP document to your local care setting it must be sent back to the National LCP Office Administrator for review and to receive a letter of compliance before you begin using it in practice.

The LCP Logo can only be used once you have

  • Registered to use the LCP in NZ
  • Agreed to follow the 10 Step Implementation Model
  • The National LCP Office NZ have matched your LCP with the national document

Please see the Logo and Annotation Guidelines.

Please note that the LCP for ICU and the Paediatric LCP are not available for use outside of the UK at this time.

For further enquiries please see our contact page or use the web form to contact National LCP Lead - NZ or National LCP Office Administrator.
